New polymorphs of curcumin.
Two new crystalline polymorphs and an amorphous phase of the active curcuminoid ingredient in turmeric are reported. Curcumin polymorph 2 has higher dissolution rate and better solubility than the known polymorph 1.
متن کاملA New Red Dipyrromethene Pigment from Candida boidinii
Candida boidinii, Growth on Ethanol, Presence M onofluoracetate, Red Dipyrromethene Pigment, Structure Elucidation The yeast Candida boidinii ATCC 32195 produces a cell-bound red pigment during growth on 1% ethanol in the presence o f 0.05% monofluoracetate. Its isolation and purification are described. The structure was elucidated by chemical degradation and physical methods, mainly mass and n...
متن کاملRed pigment in Bacillus megaterium spores.
Bacillus megaterium QM B1551 spores contained a unique red pigment in their membranes that was not found in other species. This red pigment, presumably a carotenoid, was synthesized about the time of dipicolinic acid synthesis during sporulation and was associated with the forespores. A yellow pigment was synthesized during sporulation in rich medium and was found in the mother cell compartment...
متن کاملCrystal Phase Study of Pigment Red 254 in the Presence of Ionic Liquids
Different crystal phase with a same chemical structure, polymorphous, is a specific physical characteristic which determine the end usage of pigments especially in high performance ones. Diketopyrrolopyrrole DPP derivatives, as one of the innovative in heterocyclic pigments, follow this pattern. Synthesis of pigment red 254 in selected crystal phase using ionic liquids was achieved without any ...
متن کاملRevealing the power of the natural red pigment lycopene.
By-products derived from food processing are attractive source for their valuable bioactive components and color pigments. These by-products are useful for development as functional foods, nutraceuticals, food ingredients, additives, and also as cosmetic products. Lycopene is a bioactive red colored pigment naturally occurring in plants. Industrial by-products obtained from the plants are the g...
